Farhan Exports / Quality & testing

Leather goods quality, from material to finished sample.

Define the standard before production. Farhan Exports works through the leather, construction, hardware and finish with your buying team, alongside the testing required for your order.

Leather, lining and hardware references guide the product specification.
01 / Material requirements

Start with the components.

Finished leather is tested for chromium VI and azo dyes. An EU REACH declaration is available. Farhan Exports also regularly sends leather, lining and fittings to independent laboratories, including Bureau Veritas and SGS.

Share your brand’s restricted-substances list, destination requirements and any additional testing programme at the brief stage. The relevant material, test method and acceptance criteria should be clear.

Our sourcing includes OEKO-TEX-certified suppliers. Review the certificate covering the textile selected for your collection, alongside the leather and fitting reports.

02 / Sample review

Examine the product in use.

Use the intended contents and record measurable acceptance criteria. Bring all feedback into one marked reference.

Shape & dimensions
Check the silhouette, measurements, handle drop and strap adjustment against the brief.
Construction & edges
Inspect seam positions, corners, edge treatment, reinforcement and attachments. Look inside the lining as well as across the surface.
Hardware & movement
Open the zip, operate the clasp and test the strap. Check how the loaded sample handles and closes.
Branding & packing
Confirm logo artwork, placement, internal labels, protection, barcodes and carton marks.
03 / Production reference

Approve a version everyone can identify.

  1. Record the approval

Identify the sample, materials, dimensions, hardware, branding and packaging you approve. List any decisions still outstanding.

  2. Agree the inspection

Set the quality criteria, inspection requirements and any additional product tests before production begins.

  3. Carry changes through

Record revisions in the shared specification and confirm substitutions before they enter the order.

Understand the scope

Different records answer different questions.

SMETA assesses the manufacturing facility. Tannery certifications cover the named leather-manufacturing suppliers. Finished-leather reports and any additional product tests address the materials and goods in your order.

Send your quality manual and supplier checklist so the team can discuss the appropriate evidence for your collection.
